2008 UNSW Indigenous Winter School (28 June- 5 July 2008)
This year's intake of Indigenous high school students to Nura Gili’s 2008 Winter School Program reached 135 - the largest intake to date for the residential pre-University program that assists Indigenous students in Years 10, 11 and 12 in preparing for tertiary study.

Indigenous Week at UNSW, 26-30 May 2008
The culture and history of Australia’s Indigenous people was recognised at UNSW during a series of celebrations marking Indigenous Week (26- 30 May).

First year students and Trainees attended an orientation week camp at Kurrajong, NSW in February 2008.

2008 February Outback Assist Program
UNSW students and staff from Nura Gili undertook a community project at Nanima, NSW in January 2008.

2007 Nura Gili Pre Programs (November/December 2007)
Twenty-five students completed the four week program in 2007, which included cultural activities, weekend excursions and a visit to the offices of UBS.

Nura Gili Resource Centre Exhibition in UNSW Library (September 2007)
     
An exhibition showcasing the Nura Gili Resource collection is now on display on Level 2 in the UNSW Library Building. Items on display include rare and delicate books as well as cultural objects and contemporary artwork.

Burrendong Student Camp (September 2007)
     
A group of students and staff traveled to the Burrendong Sport and Recreation Centre for a team-building and cultural camp in September 2007. Highlights included kayaking on Lake Burrendong, sharing stories around the campfire and a visit to Nanima.

UNSW Indigenous Winter School (July 2007)
     
Over 120 students from all over Australia attended the 2007 UNSW Indigenous Winter School. This year's program had an emphasis on cultural expression. Guest speakers for the formal dinner included staff from UBS and prominent Indigenous athletes David Peachey and Michael O'Loughlin. For more information on Winter School, click here.

UNSW Green Trail Opening http://www.greentrail.unsw.edu.au (March 2007)
     
Staff and students from Nura Gili attended the launch of the Green Trail. Aunty Ali Golding performed a Welcome to Country and speakers included Peter Garrett and Vice-Chancellor Professor Fred Hilmer.

UNSW Indigenous Employment Plan Launch (February 2007)
     
The UNSW Indigenous Employment Plan was launched in February 2007. The ceremony was hosted by Indigenous Employment Co-ordinator Cheryl Ah-See and attendees included current Indigenous Cadets and Trainees, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Richard Henry and staff and students from Nura Gili, and guests were treated with a performance by The Stiff Gins. In recognition of UNSW's commitment to Indigenous employment, Nura Gili presented Professor Henry with a message stick.

O-Week Camp for First Year Students (February 2007)
     
A group of first year students traveled to Booderee for a three day Orientation Camp. Highlights include time spent with Uncle Barry Moore.

Indigenous Women's Academic Mentorship Program (IWAMP) Camp (2006)
     
The inaugural IWAMP camp took place at Booderee, where staff and students camped for three days.

Cultural Exchange Trip to Africa ( 2005)
     
Nura Gili representatives, sponsored by UNSW, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Board, The Australian Council for the Arts, Tourism Australia, Placerdome Inc, Emporium Music, Austrade Dubai and Towers Rotana Hotel Dubai, recently visited EastAfrica to promote cultural exchange. For a review of their trip see the 2005 Nura Gili Annual Report. The next cultural exchange tour to Africa is scheduled for mid-2007.
